Our Story
A Seattle Practice With Deep Roots
Eye Associates Northwest is the combination of two respected Seattle group ophthalmology practices, Eye Associates of Seattle and the Eye Clinic of Seattle. Together, we provide comprehensive medical and surgical eye care across the region, with clinics in Ballard, Edmonds, First Hill, Kirkland, and Northgate.
Rooted in the Pacific Northwest for over 80 years
Our history traces back to individual practices founded in the 1930s. Dr. H. Frederick Thorlakson opened his office in the Cobb Building in 1931, treating eye, ear, nose, and throat conditions. Dr. Carl D. Jensen began his ophthalmology practice in the Medical Dental Building in 1934. The two groups later merged, and Eye Associates Northwest, PC was incorporated in Seattle in 1993.
Comprehensive care, built for today
Our seventeen physicians, optometrists, and opticians sub-specialize in areas including cornea, oculofacial plastics, retina, dry eye, and pediatrics. Cataract and other surgical procedures are performed at our own outpatient surgery center at the Ballard clinic. From routine exams to advanced surgical care, our goal is to give every patient the same level of attention, whichever clinic they walk into.
