How Often Should I Have an Exam?
Annually if you wear glasses or contacts, are over 40 with a family history of eye disease such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, or cataract, have a history of eye injury or disease, or if your physician has recommended a yearly exam. Every two years if you do not wear glasses or contacts and have no personal or family history of eye disease, unless your physician recommends otherwise.
What is a Cataract?
Cataract surgery is performed when the natural lens of the eye becomes cloudy, making daily activities difficult due to reduced vision. During surgery, the surgeon removes the natural lens and replaces it with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL), using state-of-the-art technology and microsurgical technique tailored to each patient. Premium lens options, including toric, multifocal, and toric multifocal implants, are also available.
Am I a Candidate for LASIK?
Our specially trained staff can answer questions about refractive surgery and would be happy to schedule a free evaluation to help determine your candidacy.
Do I Need an Appointment to Get Contacts or Glasses?
Your doctor will give you a glasses prescription after your visit, and you do not need a separate appointment to see one of our opticians. For contact lenses, Washington State law requires you to see one of our contact lens specialists in addition to the doctor. If you already wear contacts, bring them to your appointment.
